On last Friday morning a young man by the name of Robert Tucker, residing in Madison
Township, started to Adair County to look for land and attempted to cross the Middle
River at Paris Mill, 8 miles south of Stuart. He missed the track and got into the
river and was drowned. The horses were saved after swimming the river three times
with the running gears of the wagon still attached. His body was recovered and the
funeral took place on Sunday.

and penetrating bell. They go about in platoons and squads, making nights hideous
with their discordant ringings. When the stock ordinance takes effect, won't we be
happy?
