Mrs. Adam Seel died at their farm home in Henry township, Plymouth county,
on December 8, 1911. Her death was caused by a complication of stomach and
heart trouble. The funeral was held on Sunday, December 10th, services being
held at the Amherst Lutheran church, the pastor, Rev. Ilten, officiating.
The pallbearers were Henry Dorr Jr., Henry Schorg, Karl Dose, Adam Grauer
and Geo. Henes. Although the day was stormy and disagreeable a large number
of sympathizing neighbors and friends attended the funeral. Those from a
distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hanno, Humboldt,
South Dakota, her sisters, Mrs. Haist, Anita, Iowa; Mrs. Lizzie Slump [sic],
Mrs. Carrie Stratten, Oxford, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Martin Immel, Adair, Iowa;
brother and sister-in-law of deceased. Mr. Seel and family wish to extend
their sincere thanks to all kind neighbors and friends and to the ladies of
the Elizabeth society of the Lutheran church in particular for their
sympathy in their hour of sorrow and trial.
Mary Immel was born in Iowa City January 28, 1858; was married to Adam Seele
on the 22d of February 1881 in Oxford, Iowa, and they commenced housekeeping
at Adair, Adair county, Iowa, where they resided until 1885, when they came
to Plymouth county and established a home in Henry township, where they
resided until her death. Ten children were born to them: Sophia, now Mrs.
Henry Hanno of Humboldt, South Dakota; Laura, now Mrs. Geo. Letsche, of
Remsen; Mary, now Mrs. Jake Keppler, Remsen; Fred, John, Lizzie, George,
Ella, Albert, and Adam at home.
