Kingsley
--Saturday, September 29, was the seventieth birthday of Mrs. James
Pratt, Sr., and in memory of the event her sons, daughters and their
families met at the James Pratt home southwest of Kingsley, and tendered her
a happy surprise. The day was pleasantly spent with visiting, music and a
happy time by all. At noon everyone gathered around a bountiful table where
"Grandma" Pratt was presented with two large angel food cakes covered with
seventy candles. The cakes were made by the eldest grandchild, Miss Gladys
Pratt.

After dinner which was also enjoyed by several of Mrs. Pratt's brothers and
sisters, the sons and daughters and their families presented their mother
with a new Atwater-Kent set* as a birthday gift. Late in the afternoon the
families departed for their several homes wishing their mother and
grandmother many happy birthdays in the future.
